- Uplift Internationale's 20th anniversary
- Its aims are education and healthcare projects in Ormoc
- Uplift Internationale wanted to narrow down their focus of mission so they decided to focus on cleft lip and/or palate on children. They found out that children having these problems experience nursing difficulties, hearing and speech impairments, malnourishment, psychological effects as they grow up. This is how "Operation Taghoy" started.
- Operation Taghoy on their 1st decade has operated on about 30 children per year, on the 2nd decade, about 70 to 80 children per year, with 6 host hospitals {www.upliftinternationale.org}
- Their challenges now are to have more Operation Taghoy venues; to promote, support, and subsidize year round programs/ community/ clinics, like the Taghoy Facial Cleft Clinics in Ormoc; And a challenge for the coming decade (or an ambitious dream) is to have a Cranio-Facial Center which have received positive response so far.
Same challenges for our club in the years to come, who knows, the 2nd Taghoy Cleft Clinic in the Philippines in Roxas City, how about it, P. Pip?
