Dear Fellow Rotarians,
I would like to congratulate everybody for a very successful and well attended Governor’s Visit, at least as far as our club is concerned. I would like to make special mention to our able and efficient set of officers who have clearly laid down to the governor the plans and visions of the club, not just for this year but for the coming Rotary years. The fellowship was great, food was superb and the venue was just perfect! It left me with a terrible headache for more than a day! Again, my kudos to the club!
The visits to Talon and Olotayan were very fruitful as well. Particularly in Olotayan, the governor has instructed Rtn Powell to come up with an estimate of the repair of the wall that is slowly being destroyed by water, and an estimate of the roofing for the daycare center building that was razed by fire including the railings to make the building child friendly. I hope Rtn Powell can come up with those ASAP so we can deliver our promise to the school kids and the people of Olotayan.
While still nursing a hang-over, I signed a “Matched Club Relations Agreement” with the Rotary Club of Forbes Park at the Manila Polo Club in Makati. Megs and I were wearing our purple gala (thought were overdressed) and to my surprise, everybody were in business suit (in coat and tie) with matching name plaques with their Rotary Club seal on their chests. They made me sit at the presidential table together with another Rotarian from a Makati Club who is their district’s chair for community service, President Beans of RC Forbes Park, and the president of their Rotary Corp who was joining them for lunch. Unfortunately, I had to rush for a procedure in Quezon City, so Rtn Megs took over to introduce our club to them. Got a text message from Megs later in the day that we have to prepare a seafood feast on December 11 since they decided to come over to celebrate our 45th birthday (attn Matti, Chad, 3L’s, Rey: we need talaba, fresh fish, crabs, etc…).
September is the New Generations Month and we have come up with various activities. The Boys and Girls Week, chaired by PE Jerry Lames is scheduled on September 28 to October 2, and Rtn Megs Lunn will be introducing a new activity for college student hopefully to take off our Rotaract Club. It will be a Leadership Forum on September 25, 2009, entitled: “Wala na sang Iban…Ikaw na!”. Other volunteers to this undertaking are Rtn Pancho dela Cruz, Rtn Rexam Laguda, and myself who will be acting as lecturers and facilitators. I will leave the details of the above activities to the respective chairs.
Lastly, I have appointed Rtn Megs to take-over the helm of “Ang Patiyog” which she gladly accepted to the delight of PE Jerry.
Sincerely,
Pres Pip
