President's Message - September 25, 2009

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

It is all systems go for our New Generations Month and the Roxas City government is very cooperative as far as logistics are concerned. PE Jerry has been working closely with the City administrator and in fact has done representations to the City Council. As a result, the council is declaring the coming week as Rotary Club of Roxas’ Boys and Girls Week, and they are also agreed to hold their session on a Thursday in order to accommodate our activity and to give time for mentoring of the boys and girls officials. Congratulations to PE Jerry and his “invisible” committee members…!

Also, PP Megs Lunn has been cooking up the first RC Roxas Leadership Forum for College student leaders through co-ordinations via the internet! It must be the way of the times, and it seems to be gaining good responses. PP Megs is expecting around 40 to 50 student representatives from different colleges in Roxas City to attend the forum aptly titled “Wala na sang iban…Ikaw na!”. To the politician-members out there, this is your time to shine… imagine? RC Roxas endorsement must be worth something… of course, you have to feed these kids and the organizers in return.

Director Leah and Rtn Che-ann have been working for the campaign against TB in Children, and will be launching the activities with a Fun Run slated on October 25 (Sunday). I suggest everybody should be looking for their comfortable running shoes now and start trotting Arnaldo Boulevard to get those leg muscles firm and flexible.

Director Gary is also preparing for the Career Talk in October, to mark the Vocational Service Month. He is now in the process of gathering high caliber speakers who will hopefully inspire the high school graduating students in the City to take or not to take their respective vocations of choice.

The coming week will be very busy. A schedule will be provided for in the succeeding pages of our newsletter. Meantime, let us all relax and party at the residence of PE Jerry Lames who will be celebrating his __nth birthday on Friday, our meeting day. It will be another fellowship meeting where most of the ideas prop up over bottles of beer.

Hope to see all of you more frequently especially during club activities. We will be updating all of you as often as possible.

Sincerely,

P Pip
