ROTARY BEYOND GOOD

Rotarians go into the world and do good. Thank you to The Rotary Foundation that has been so effective in managing the Rotarians' contributions. The Rotary clubs and Rotarians are a good match with the foundation because they are willing to do more good and really do good... and even better than good to "Make A Difference."

In the words of Arch Klumph, "Money alone does little good. Individual service is helpless without money. The two together can be a Godsend to civilization."

(Dec 15, 2017) Rotary Clubs District 3690 South Korea and Rotary Club Roxas, Distict 3850 turning over Rotary Global Grant 1636706 - Technical Vocational Equipment for Dumalag Central National High School: Tools and Equipments in Automotive Servicing, Dressmaking, Carpentry, Electronics, Electrical installation and maintenance and Beauty Care. Simultaneous turn over of more equipment and engines for CRAAHS Automotive from District 3690 South Korea.

More contributions, more Global Grants, and more grants approved, more responsibility and accountability. But what is best is the change you bring in the community and its people, and the impact it does in the world.

For all the overwhelming good things in our club and in our district, thank you ROTARY!

Your presence is more than a blessing. Your generous contribution to the Rotary in Making A Difference is a manifestation of how Rotarians near and far evolved as missionaries of goodwill and friendship in the community, of peace and harmony among countries, and as instruments of mercy and compassion to the world.

Special appreciation goes to D3850 Gov. Jundad Legislador and PDG Ronnie Gabalda in joining the RotaGift 2017 activity and the turn over of District Grant (Library Hub) and Global Grant (Dumalag), respectively.

May each one of us not only enjoy the Christmas songs, carols, gift-giving and parties left and right, but more so to feel the essence of true Christmas within us, the baby Jesus in the manger. With humility and thanksgiving, may what we do give glory to Him. Merry Christmas everyone!

ROTARY INFORMATION
by: PDG Mark Anthony Ortiz

Most Rotarians are successful professional and business executives because they hear opportunities knock and take advantage of them. Once a week the opportunity for Rotary fellowship occurs at each club meeting, but not all members hear it knocking.

The weekly club meeting is a special privilege of Rotary membership. It provides the occasion to visit with fellow members, to meet visitors you have not known before, and to share your personal friendship with other members.

Rotary clubs which have a reputation of being "friendly clubs" usually follow a few simple steps: First, members are encouraged to sit in a different seat or at a different table each week. Second, Rotarians are urged to sit with a member they may not know as well as their long-time personal friends. Third, members invite new members or visitors to join their table just by saying: "Come join us, we have an empty chair at this table."

Fourth, members share the conversation around the table rather than merely eating in silence or talking privately to the person next to them. Fifth, Rotarians make a special point of trying to get acquainted with all members of the club by seeking out those they may not know.

When Rotarians follow these five easy steps, an entirely new oppor1tunity for fellowship knocks each week. Soon Rotarians realize that warm and personal friendship is the cornerstone of every great Rotary club.

TOLERANCE OF DIFFERENCES

As members of an international organization dedicated to world understanding and peace, it behooves Rotarians to exercise restraint in judging our Rotary friends and citizens from other countries when their behavior seems unusual to us. A Rotary policy has existed for more than half a century relating to this dilemma of international relationships.
The statement, adopted in 1933, says that because it is recognized that some activities and local customs may be legal and customary in some countries and not in others, Rotarians should be guided by this admonition of tolerance:

"Rotarians in all countries should recognize these facts and there should be a thoughtful avoidance of criticism of the laws and customs of one country by the Rotarians of another country." The policy also cautions against "any effort on the part of Rotarians of one country to interfere with the laws or customs of another country."

GK BAYANIHAN DAY

by: Jessica Veronique O. Yu, GD Dinginan Capiz

Rotary International District 3850 and Rotary Club of Roxas does it again!
True to their commitment to make a difference in the lives of the community whom they met a few months ago, this second bayanihan day was totally unexpected.
We witnessed the heroism of the members of this very noble organization as they have individually or collectively continued to strengthen their ties to the families they met back then.

They have opened doors of opportunities for a better life. Some lives will never be the same because of good people like them.
The poorest will no longer be poor when we start to journey with them. It is not just the talent and treasures that matter. It's the POWER of PRESENCE.
Today, Rotary, Robinsons Bank, Alibata Association and Brgy. II Youth return to the community to inspire hope,
love, and the culture of caring.
GK Bayanihan Day Rotary volunteers has also engaged their family and friends into doing good.

Madamo gid nga salamat.
For God and Country!
