Hi there Fellow Rotarians,
It's been so long since I last updated this blog hehehe....sorry for the late update. We have been busy around with so many activities from the preparation to the implementation....non-stop worthwhile projects of RC Roxas keeps everyone busy and on the go for life as always.
I can share you some details of the two weeks mission with RC Roxas and RC Central Iloilo City, jointly participated with the warm people of Capiz and Pototan, Iloilo City.
We did the 1ST in Roxas - OPERATION TAGHOY MEDICAL MISSION 2010 with UPLIFT INTERNATIONALE from Jan. 23-30 and 2nd time in Iloilo last Feb 1-6, 2010, respectively. Uplift Internationale medical mission's TO MEND ONE CHILD, ONE AT A TIME is an annual event in the Philippines for the Filipino children with facial deformities and cleft lips and palates. Successfully, we did 66 children in Roxas and 59 in Pototan.
In addition to this, we did 19 follow ups of Speech Therapy in Kalibo and more or less 10 kids in Illoilo. These are the kids we operated last year's mission on palate and need to have Speech follow ups.
It was carried on smoothly thru the never-ending hardwork and hospitality of the Rotarians in Roxas and Iloilo.
Being in this mission for 6 years now, I feel so great to be able to be of service to our American-Filipino Doctors who spent time, talent and treasure to be able to be with us once a year in two weeks and give hope to the Filipino children by mending their faces thru OPERATION TAGHOY. The experience gives my life a purpose knowing that in our own little capacity, we were able to organize the event humbly with the kind people of our host community.
We changed 124 lives (1 is dental for speech development - palate case = 125) over the two weeks we were in the Philippines; this is a record for Uplift Internationale. Some days really tested us and others miracles happened.
Thank you everyone (you know who you are) for all your 3 T's spent with us, too. In behalf of my team OPERATION TAGHOY 2010 and the Uplift Internationale as a whole, THANK YOU and may God bless you more with good things to come.
May we continue to serve and love our less privileged brethren as much as we love to serve ROTARY, too.
