Rotary goodwill from Korea D3740 Zone 7

“Good friendships bear good fruits.” (PDG Mark Ortiz)

Fun-Activity with Hercor Rotaract Club (HERO)
Last December 7-8, 2016, our partner Rotarians from Korea Rotary District 3740 visited the club again to deliver their promise and delivered more exciting future projects, too. The Korean officers were from the Rotary Clubs of Chung-Ju Pres Yeon/GiYeong; Sae-Chung-Ju Deputy AG Kim/Jaewoo; Tan-Guem Pres Choi/YoJeong and AG Zone 7 Jeon/Yeong Seon and Chung-Ju Jung-Ang Pres Kim/Tae Hyeung and PDG Ji/Seong Youn. Some of them brought their family and children, too.

Gift-Giving
Rotary Club of Roxas fetched the team at the Kalibo International Airport last Dec 7, 2016, had lunch at the airport and brought them to Roxas City. There was a welcome dinner at Anot’s Grilled Restaurant hosted by the club. PDG Mark Ortiz and PE Megs Lunn (on behalf of Pres. Jo Mosquete) formally welcomed them and introduced them to all the Rotarians present, and vice versa.

The next day, we held a Christmas outreach program and gift-giving to more than one hundred (100) school children beneficiaries at Brgy. Culasi, Roxas City. The event was in collaboration with Hercor College Rotaract Club of Hercor College of which they spearheaded the fun activity for the kids and plus the participation of our Korean guests. It was all a meaningful-fun-activity for the kids with the surprised participation of the Jollibee Mascot.

After the gift-giving, the team proceeded to the adopted school, the Cong. Ramon A. Arnaldo High School in Brgy. Banica, Roxas City. The school is a lucky recipient of Korea 3740 District Grants #1734050 of $20,000 to help build the Automotive/TechVoc Workshop Building and the recent approved Global Grant #1744722, respectively. (The groundbreaking ceremony of the said project was held last August 19, 2016 at the same venue. The construction lasted for three (3) months as promised.)
Cutting of Ribbons

Before the formal ceremony was held, the Korean Rotarians excitedly paint the wall and finish it in time for the turn-over. After CRAAHS prepared a sumptuous lunch and entertainment, the event was followed by the cutting of ribbons, unveiling of Rotary markers and the final signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Rotary Roxas, Rotary International District 3740 and Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Roxas City. The signing was a go signal that the formal turn-over of the Automotive Laboratory Workshop is successfully done.

The day has not yet ended. The Koreans as originally planned went for the beach clean- up.

Signing of MOU
Significantly, we can’t help but also to simultaneously celebrate with a simple program the 52nd year founding anniversary of the club which was held at the Lakehouse 2 , San Antonio Resort, Baybay, Roxas City and in time with the presence of our partner Rotarians from Korea D3740, it made the entire event memorable and fun. There was never a dull moment with few and meaningful speeches plus exchanges of gifts between clubs like the $1000 worth of local childcare support and supplies delivery and other personal gifts to Rotary officers and members, among others.

The night cannot fade away without the outstanding performance of the special guest baby Rotarian Nico Fuentes, formerly a member of PorkChop, USA and some dance participation from the audience.

“The good thing with nurturing the friendships is that it brings energy to our soul. Friends make good times better and the hard times easier.” Rotary made them all possible for coming together with immense purpose -  to serve humanity.
