"The heart that gives, gathers."
T'was an overwhelming and productive week for Rotary Club of
Roxas.
The arrival of our
Rotary friends/partners from District 3740 6Area and Korean District thru the help of Rtn.
Mark Jeong of RC Zamboanga North gave excitement and enthusiasm to the members
of the RC Roxas. We sincerely welcomed Asst. Governor Zone 6, Woo/Jae-gyu,
Deputy Secretary Zone 6, Choi/Seong-geun, Deputy Sec Zone 7 Kim/Jae-woo and
Pres. of RC Chungju, Yeon/K-Young. They brought with them goodwill and
friendship.
They were warmly received
by the club headed by its club Trainer PDG Mark Ortiz and no less than our club
pres - Jocelyn "Jo" Mosquete. The welcome coincided with the regular
club meeting of the club last August 17, 2016 at the Rotary Club of Roxas
Center, where everyone is present.
The visit of our
Korean Rotarians from August 17-20, 2016 has great purpose to the community of
Roxas.
Itineraries on courtesy
call with the Mayor’s/VM’s office, Groundbreaking and Memorandum of
Understanding were laid out and the city tour to Pan-Ay and the Palina River
cruise were among the exciting places we brought them to.
Last August 18,
2016, the Memorandum of Understanding signing was done at the (CRAAHS)
Congressman Ramon A. Arnaldo High School (Technical-Vocational High School),
Brgy. Banica, Roxas City in the presence of the following: Mr. Joseph M. Lopez
(Principal IV), Mr. Roel F. Bermejo, CESO V (Schools Division Superintendent),
Roxas City Vice-Mayor Erwin Sicad, and also other representatives from Barangay
Banica, to name a few.
The MOU is between RC Roxas, RC Chungju and CRAAHS – A $20,000 direct
grant to construct a two-classroom project TECHVOC of which RC Chungju is donating.
The understanding affirms that the grant is managed by the Rotary clubs/districts
involved in the project. The project is to be implemented by both the club and
CRAAHS. This project will house the TECHVOC Global Grant equipment both the
clubs/districts are forging and are actually in progress. While on the other
hand, CRAAHS will ensure its project sustainability, provide regular reporting
and vigorously promote Rotary’s Public Image.
Messages of
goodwill from both clubs/districts were given by Pres. Jocelyn Mosquete,
PDG Mark Ortiz, Pres Yeon/Ki-young and PAG Ji/Seong-yun.
From the MOU Signing, we had a fellowship dinner hosted by PP Reubin Yap at the Capiz Bay Resort.

Then last August 19, 2016, the group of first-timer Korean Rotarians had the opportunity to
see the city by going around historical and cultural area of Pan-Ay, had a
taste of its native delicacies, etc and got to relaxed and enjoyed the nature
during the Palina River cruise at Brgy. Cagay, Roxas City. The trip ended with a fellowship/farewell dinner at SandBar Restaurant, San Antonio Resort hosted by PDG Mark Ortiz.
The partnership will continue by doing exchanges of reports,
visits and more projects in the future. The club can’t thank enough the
generosity of Korean Rotarians.
“Giving is not just about giving a donation. It is about making a
difference.”
