DISTRICT GOVERNOR NOMINEE 2013-2014

Dear Global Presidents, Assistant Governors, District Leaders and Rotarians,

I am pleased to inform you that the District Nominating Committee chaired by PDG Prince Gerochi, has nominated Past President Mark Ortiz of the Rotary Club of Roxas to be the District Governor for Rotary Year 2013-2014.

This is the official announcement. Please pass this information to all your clubs and members. I am also requesting the PP Chris Montero and IPP Emil Aquino to announce this on the webpage and on the GML.

Dear Rotarians,

It is with deep humility and overwhelming gratitude that I email all of you and all Rotarians in the District thru you simply to express how honored I am to be serving you in this new capacity as District Governor for RY 2013-14. I am awed by the trust and confidence my club has shown in endorsing me; whatever achievements I have done in the past and will do triumphantly in the future, is all because of them and is all theirs, and is and will be all ours. This honor is made more meaningful, by the way, as our club, the Rotary Club of Roxas, turns Golden in 2014. Thank you again and here's to all of us in District 3850!

The Object of Rotary

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

• FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

Avenues of Service

• Vocational Service encourages Rotarians to serve others through their vocations and to practice high ethical standards.
• Community Service covers the projects and activities the club undertakes to improve life in its community.
• International Service encompasses actions taken to expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach around the globe and to promote world understanding and peace.
• New Generations Service recognizes the positive change implemented by youth and young adults through leadership development activities, service projects, and exchange programs.

The Four-Way Test

The test, which has been translated into more than 100 languages, asks the following questions:

Of the things we think, say or do

1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Diversity and Rotary

Rotary International recognizes the value of diversity within individual clubs. Rotary encourages clubs to assess those in their communities who are eligible for membership, under existing membership guidelines, and to endeavor to include the appropriate range of individuals in their clubs. A club that reflects its community with regard to professional and business classification, gender, age, religion, and ethnicity is a club with the key to its future.

Wishes of Aid and Limbs for Kids (W.A.L.K.) aims to assist physically challenged children. A person’s physical mobility goes beyond moving oneself from one place to another. By providing limbs to a physically handicapped person, we endeavor to propel one’s confidence and self-worth towards personal growth and productivity. THIS IS OUR MISSION.
